On the doorstep of Venice’s famed theater, this charming hotel has been a popular stop for artists, many of whom have left their paintings to adorn the hotel’s walls. The hotel lobby separates its new wing (to its left) from its old wing (to its right) and just beyond is a small garden where guests can enjoy breakfast during summer.
The size and comfort level of the rooms varies as much as the views, with some overlooking the square and theater, some the garden and others a canal. Rooms 354 and 355 share a lovely terrace and are ideal for small families, but if these are booked there are a few other rooms that are similarly connected.
If you’re traveling solo, request the attic room, a cozy one with abundant closet space that is often the choice of traveling artists. This hotel rates high in terms of character, but outdated furnishings and uncomfortable mattresses make certain rooms less desirable.
